Liverpool have released a positive update concerning James Milner's injury that he picked up against Leicester on Saturday.
The
club's vice-captain was substituted late in the opening period against
the Foxes in the Premier league Asia Trophy final after feeling
discomfort in his quad.
Milner reported
to Melwood, Liverpool's training base, on Monday for tests and the
Anfield outfit have informed their fans that early assessments show the
31-year-old's injury is not serious.
The former England international will
complete a specific training programme this week in order to get him
back to full fitness as the Reds ramp up their pre-season schedule.
Jurgen
Klopp's side face Hertha Berlin in a friendly on Saturday, before they
compete in the Audi Cup in Munich next week. Their pre-season schedule
then comes to an end against Athletic Bilbao in Dublin on August 5.
And
Liverpool have refused to rule Milner out for any of these upcoming
friendlies but claim decisions on his participation depend on his
recovery and will be taken on a game-by-game basis.
Klopp
will be hoping to have the majority of his squad to choose from for
their first Premier League match against Watford at Vicarage Road on
August 12.
