Evergreen Dirk Kuyt
A lot of people seemed to presume he had already retired, but there was Dirk Kuyt bossing it for Feyenoord in the Europa League last night, at the ripe old age of 36.The Dutchman, who is regarded as a hero to Liverpool fans for his tireless service to the Anfield club, captained Feyenoord to a historic win over Manchester United in the Europa League last night, and he seems as in good shape as ever.
As an ex-Liverpool player, Kuyt will have taken extra pleasure in beating United, and he spoke of what a huge win it was with the media afterwards.
Kuyt also revealed a little conversation he had with Manchester United’s Paul Pogba during the game, which reflects well on the world record signing.
In the heat of battle, Pogba complimented Kuyt for his longevity in the game:
‘Paul Pogba told me on the field it is amazing I am still running and flying. It is beautiful that he has respect for me, especially because he is one of the best players in Europe.’
Erm, that’s a very nice gesture from Pogba, but shouldn’t he be keeping that kind of stuff for after the game?
United fans would probably rather he kept the talking to a minimum, and instead concentrated on winning football matches.
