Jose Mourinho may have infuriated fans of his former clubs Chelsea and
Real Madrid by declaring has finally reached the “top of his career”
after becoming Manchester United manager.
Mourinho replaced Louis van Gaal as United boss this summer and has
changed the mood around the club with the help of some big-name signings
ahead of the new Premier League season.
Yet Mourinho has shied away from comparing his latest posting to his
previous jobs until now, with these comments unlikely to be well
received by Chelsea fans in particular.
“I have been in some of the biggest clubs in the world, but this is like the top of my career,” he told Sky Sports.

Mourinho also hinted he always had his eye on the United job, after
confirming he was always keen to build a strong relationship with the
club’s supporters even when he was the manager in the opposition dug-out
at Old Trafford.
“As an opponent I could create a good relationship with the fans, I never had problems, and I have not always behaved the best way,” he reflected of his experiences at Old Trafford. “The first time I was running to celebrate a goal at the touchline (as Porto manager back in 2004).
