The House of Representatives is to probe the federal government's bail-out funds given to states with a view to ascertaining its propriety.
The House said it would constitute an ad-hoc committee to investigate the terms and conditions for the disbursement and utilization of the funds, the level of compliance and determine the necessity of further disbursement as being muted by the government. The committee is expected to report back in four weeks.
Adopting a motion by Rep Sunday Karimi (PDP, Kogi), the House said with the downward trend in the revenue generation by the country in 2015, majority of the states could not meet their financial obligations, especially to their employees.
