Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has vowed to deal with
those hiding under the guise of politics and religion to unduly
disparage his person and government.
Masari said a campaign of calumny was ongoing on social media
networks with hate-preaching by some religious groups against his
government and person.
The Governor, however, said such would not deter him from
implementing reforms that would help the State come out of the doldrums.
Masari was speaking yesterday when he received the Emir of Katsina,
Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, along hundreds of traditional leaders,
for the ‘Hauwan Sallah’ homage.
He expressed concern on the use of his private GSM line by some
people who send abusive text messages against him and his
administration.
He said his mobile phone was a personal item that was purchased with
money from his pocket, and wondered why some people would be sending
abusive text messages to him.
Masari said, “People are free to criticise our policies, but I would
not condone the use of my personal phone to dent my personal image and
government to achieve personal interest.”
He warned that those sending such abusive text messages should desist from doing so or would be identified and dealt with.
He, however, called on people of the State to rather use suggestion
boxes provided for in the 34 council areas to forward meaningful
criticisms or suggestions to government.
He called for prayers and understanding from the people of the Sate
in view of the current economic challenges, assuring that government was
working to improve welfare of the people.
Earlier, Emir of Katsina, Kabir Usman, assured of emirate council’s
readiness to work with government to bring needed changes into the
State.
Usman also assured of emirate’s support in ongoing anti- corruption
war by the Federal Government, insisting that looters of the treasury
must be made to face the music.
