Why I pitched tent with Sherriff faction – Edo Lawmaker Why I pitched tent with Sherriff faction – Edo Lawmaker
Member representing Egor Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency in Edo State, Hon. Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, at the weekend said the desire to rescue the people from poverty and suffering compelled him to pick the Governorship nomination and expression of interest from the Ali Modu Sherriff- led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Agbonayinma, who said as a lawmaker he relied on a subsisting court pronouncement which ruled in favour of Ali Modu Sheriff as the authentic PDP NationalChairman, promised to back out if there is a contrary ruling before the party’s primary scheduled for Wednesday 29th June 2016.
The lawmaker who disclosed this when he spoke with newsmen at the Benin Airport , denied being sponsored to further worsen the PDP crisis and vowed never to engage in any activities that will undermined the peace and development in the State “ I’m a lawmaker and not a law breaker, I’m not the only one contesting , there are others. I should be seen as peace maker and I’ m committed to ensuring just that.’’
He said, his quest to succeed the state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, was aimed at protecting the state against poachers who do not want the progress of the state, ahead of the forthcoming 10th September 2016 Governorship poll in the state.
“If I win nomination, I assure you that I will give power back to the people. Until there is a contrary court judgement setting aside the subsisting court ruling, Ali Modu Sheriff remains the Chairman of our great party.
“The previous PDP primary is null and void, because the constitution of our great Nation, the constitution of our great party, PDP, we must adhere to it. We must support the rule of law and as a lawmaker, I should not be seen violating the laws of the party or the Country”, he said.
